The Patas Affair moves right along. It's now passed 30K words. Kurt has not seen any Patas monkeys since dissecting the dead juvenile. Even though he's not had any luck with living Patas he's put stripes on a couple of trees to use the distance between them to time the speed of a Patas when they run past the two trees. Ted has determined that the spy machine uses the same frequency as his cell phone, but he's told Kurt that even though he gets some kind of signal it has to be in code since it's unintelligible to him. Will Adam clarify what is being translated by the machine?

11/28/2023

Arrivaing in the heart of Africa, Kurt Lederer and Ted Simmons are overwhelmed with the sights and sounds of Bangui, Central African Republic. It's taken them 20K words for the journey, but they are finally at their planned destination among the fauna and flora of the land-locked country. They haven't seen any Patas monkeys, but Kurt is very optimistic of completing his study of the primates in their native habitat.

11-6-2023

A new novel is taking shape. I'm a little over 11K into the story. Not exactly a topsy-turvy tale, but there are elements of disorder involved. A graduate student with a grant to study Patas monkeys in the Central African Republic finds a topsy-turvy aspect to his grant. The grant's administration has been shifted from the National Science Foundation to the CIA. What follows is the stuff of nightmares.

August 22, 2023

Akasha II zipped past 80K on its way to the denouement. Jeananne has a flooded apartment and has prevailed upon her sister for a place to stay. Almost all the prep for the 25th anniversary celebration has been completed. Denise hopes she has not left anything to chance.

10 August 2023

Akasha II has passed 71K. The story is approaching a bang-up ending at the twenty-fifth anniversary celebration. A tremendous storm is forecast for the Friday night celebration. Will it dampen or ruin the party? We'll have to get to that part of the story to see what happens.

July 26, 2023

Passed 60K on Akasha II. Denise's life has become even more complicated. She has ongoing health problems that could be related to the blackout she experienced at the art gallery when attending the opening of her friend's art show. She and Sam Abbott have become even closer. Christine Harbord is now a guest of Mary Elizabeth Scott at the Chela House. There are only four days until the twenty-fifth anniversary celebration at the Mark Hopkins hotel. Will it be a very happy event? That question is central to the denouement of the sequel

July 12, 2023

Leapt past 50K on Akasha II. Denise had an unfortunate accident while she was attending a gallery opening for her long-time acquaintance, Larry Fife. There was no lasting effect and she was back at work the next day. Saturday brought new challenges as she attended a golf game with her firm's "Names" and Garth Hendricks who had volunteered to be the fourth in their foursome

June 28, 2023

Made it past the usual 40K barrier with Akasha II. Sam has accepted Denise as his twin flame. Now all that's required for them to formalize the relationship is for Mary Elizabeth to give her blessing. The twenty-fifth anniversary party preparation is well underway. Denise is going to accompany the Names on their golf game at Kezar and she's surprised that Garth has volunteered to be the fourth player in the foursome.

June 15, 2023

Zipped past 30K on the Akasha II story. Denise finally asked Sam whether he had experienced the same past lives she had. His answer surprised her and moved her to talk to Carol about what it meant. The new campaigns are getting started with Carol having some ideas about Lance Morrison's Exotel. Denise is having unexplained physical problems.

June 1, 2023

Passed 20K words on Akasha II. A new Elohim appears in the story. He/she/it is connected to Denise Parker, but exactly what that connection is remains to be seen. Denise is becoming more of a vice president than she expected to and is now taking golf lessons. She still doesn't want to emulate her old boss, but with the pressure to be "one of the boys" it will be difficult for her to chart her own path.

May 25, 2023

Akasha II has passed the 15K word count. Denise Parker continues to have the nightmare that is scarier than the one she had before the George Moffatt party that ended so disastrously. She and Sam are no closer than they were when they first met. Both have been promoted to responsible jobs, she at Walker, Scott and Newcomb, he at the Chela House. New threats emerge that will test the resolve of everyone involved in The Light of the World religious organization.

April 30, 2023

Greasing it on is finished. It's now available in ebook and paperback at Amazon.com. I'll probably have more to say about the book after my copy arrives.

In the meantime, a friend bought and read Akasha. She enjoyed the book and the cliff-hanger ending made her want more, so her enthusiasm reverberated and I'm now re-reading the book to get some links to Akasha II. It looks like the time period might be five years later, but that is an open thought at this point. More as the idea takes shape

April 14, 2023

Finished the first draft of Greasing it on. All the usual post-writing activity will take up some time before the book is ready to publish.

Friday, March 31, 2023

March 31, 2023

Greasing it on nudged 50K today. The hero has been hurt, but not seriously. Will it affect his flying lessons? That remains to be seen. Now that he has four women in his life, will he evaluate which of the four might make a good partner to relieve him of the dating game? Lots of questions to be answered in the next 10K.

March 18, 2023

Greasing it on snuggled up to 40K today. With that milestone 2/3 of the the first draft is finished. The last third will resolve the plot and bring in the P-51 airplane as a culmination of the other airplanes that Larry Dean has experienced during the 40K romp.

March 7, 2023

Another productive week. Greasing it on is now past 30K. More adventures and new friends. Reflections on his solo flight and almost disastrous cross-country give Larry Dean much to think and talk about.

Thursday, February 23, 2023

February 23, 2023

Well on the way with Greasing it on. Passed 21K today with a new historical aerial adventure for Larry Dean as well as meeting a lawyer at a present-day McDonald's. As the story progresses, he wakes up to another day of vacation. Larry decides to take a cross-country flight. What will happen at the other airports is yet to be written, but I'm sure there will be interesting people and things to see.

January 30, 2023

The other book that caromed inside my brain took precedence over the political novel that I started research on. This one will concentrate on a pilot that experiences flight from the earliest Wright Brothers creation to the latest Top Gun machine. The title of this one is Greasing it on.
